P & D LEAGUE STATEMENT

Coronavirus

Content of email from men’s P&D Committee:

“In light of recent announcements by Bowls England, Bowls Devon and Plymouth City Council the GPC has no alternative but to cancel the P&D Bowls Leagues for 2020.   We regret having to take this action but with council greens being unavailable for the foreseeable future we had no option. The April P&D Spring Meeting is also cancelled

Bowls England has cancelled all national and county comps and are refunding players affiliation fee’s.

Plymouth City Council quote ” we are writing to inform you that use of the bowling green buildings and all formal bowling activity is discontinued until further notice.  Devon Bowls have also informed us that should individual play continue on the greens, please can you make your members aware  that in this case, bowlers must recognise that they take complete and total responsibility for themselves with no club insurance cover.”

Unfortunately the P&D Bowls Tour to Eastbourne will also be cancelled, also all P&D Representative games     Please do not send any monies or fee’s to us,  all deposits and registration fee’s etc. already paid will be refunded in due course.

We are sorry we have had to take this action but not knowing when or if we’ll get on the greens this summer it’s impossible to try to re-arrange the leagues.

Please, everyone take care and stay safe. Regards,   Roy Chaffe.  P&D Secretary.

Bowls England have cancelled all the National Competitions for this
season. I have not heard from the County yet but assume the Minor
competitions and County trophy will not take place either. The Council
have closed their greens anyway .Therefore for this season there will be
no Major & Minor Competitions  County Trophy,  Foxlands  & Top Club. The
Bowls England declaration is on their web site.

If entries are the same for next season I hope to carry forward the
programme from this year.

Bowls England are refunding the affiliations & Competition entry fees to
the County. The County have not said what they intend to do with this
money yet but I assume it will be refunded to the sections.

Could secretaries please let their members know this information.
